Save the Grand Central Towers Daycare – Support Working Parents and Children

PETITION IN SUPPORT OF THE DAYCARE FACILITY AT GRAND CENTRAL TOWERS

To: Building Management, Caretaker, and Relevant Authorities

We, the undersigned residents, parents, and guardians of Grand Central Towers, respectfully submit this petition in support of the daycare facility currently serving children and families within our community.

The daycare provides an essential service to working parents who require safe, affordable, and accessible childcare between 6:00am and 6:00pm. Many residents depend on this service in order to maintain employment and provide for their families. The closure of the daycare would create significant challenges for parents and could negatively impact the well-being of many children.

We understand that concerns have been raised regarding the legality of operating the daycare from its current location. However, we wish to place on record that the daycare owner has repeatedly requested assistance in obtaining a suitable, safe, and practical space where the daycare can operate in compliance with all applicable requirements. These efforts demonstrate a willingness to cooperate and to ensure that the service is provided in a lawful and safe manner.

We further note that other services and businesses operate within the building, including a shop, a library, and a salon. As residents, we respectfully request clarity and fairness regarding the application of building rules and regulations. We believe that the daycare, which provides a vital service to children and working families, should be given the same opportunity to engage with management and seek an approved operating space.

Our request is not that regulations be ignored, but rather that management and the relevant authorities work constructively with the daycare owner and the community to identify a suitable solution. We believe that the interests of children, parents, and residents are best served by supporting a safe, regulated, and accessible childcare facility within the community.

We therefore respectfully request that:

1. The daycare not be closed without meaningful consultation with affected parents and residents.

2. Management engage with the daycare owner to identify a suitable and safe location for the service.

3. Fair and transparent consideration be given to the daycare in light of other services operating within the building.

4. The needs of working parents and the best interests of the children be taken into account when making any final decision.
